Sedona, Arizona

Day 12
July 4, 2016
Sedona, AZ
Red Rock Western 4X4 Jeep Tour through Thunder Mountain
Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village  (t-lacky-packy)
Sunset at Airport Mesa

Amazing 4 X 4 Jeep Tour on Soldier's Pass Trail- This trail was traveled by General Crook, during the Apache campaign in 1871-72. We went up and over boulders and rock faces that would stop any other car in its tracks.

Red-Tailed Hawk- There were three in the trees right near the trail.

Wizard of Oz Tree- Walt Disney owned a house in Sedona and got many of his ideas for rides and movies from this canyon.

Coffee Pot Rock (left in pic)

Canyon Tree Frog in one of the Apache Seven Sacred Pools- it rained a few days ago so these pools were full of frogs and tadpoles.

Ian exploring the pools

Agave Americana
Our tour guide, Dan, told us all about the many uses of agave and how strong it is. If you fall into it, the rigid leaves would stab right into you with its sharp spines and you would die.  This is the plant that makes tequila, but the good tequila is from the blue agave only found in Mexico.

Devil's Kitchen- a sinkhole that first collapsed in 1881 and again in 1989.

Alex & Ian could not stop smiling, and Dan, our tour guide, was  full of interesting information about Sedona. Alex was excited about Dan's 41 Caliber Remington Magnum.
